SQUANDER

I clearly have a shopping addiction and to be honest, it is a very expensive hobby to have.
I tend to SQUANDER when I'm feeling down as it's a quick happiness fix. Who doesn't like new stuff, right?
Without further ado, this is what I picked up today :)

Naughty naughty, end of financial year's sales what can I say :P
A quick run-through of what a picked up:
  • Whoosh Shower Jelly from LUSH
  • Sexy Peel Soap from LUSH
  • The Godmother Soap from LUSH
  • Refreshing Lip Balm from Bert's Bees
  • Lights of Emerald City Nail Polish from OPI
  • Photoready 3D Volume Mascara in Blackest Black from Revlon
  • Cooling Hand Cream Gel from L'Occitane
WHOOSH Shower Jelly
If you haven't seen a shower jelly let alone feel one, you need to go lush, your life isn't complete. It feels exactly like that jelly you used to eat as a kid and smells just as divine!

The reasons why i was drawn to this product were; firstly, I have wanted a shower jelly for almost a year now and secondly, the description states that it's 'useful for renewed focus when tired, jet lagged or revising for exams'. I don't know about you guys but as a HSC student, the first and third point sound pretty appealing!

The citrus and rosemary give a very fresh, clean scent. it is particularly good if you're the type who prefers clean scents as opposed to sweet or floral scents.

Sexy Peel Soap
This is the 3rd time I've purchased this soap as I absolutely love it!

It's another fresh clean scent that definitely wakes you up.  Contains peel of lemons and oranges and smells almost like marmalade(but not so sweet).

The Godmother Soap
This smells exactly like strawberry aeroplane jelly and for that reason I've repurchased this product many times.

Certainly for people who love sweet scents as it is very SWEET. It makes your skin feel sooooo sooooo soft and because it is coloured, it gives your skin a little bit of a glow :)

If you have porcelain bathroom fittings be careful because it can leave a bit of a pink stain behind, but other than that I absolutely LOVE it.
Bert's Bees Refreshing Lip Balm
I've wanted to try these for a long while now as everyone seems to rave about them and they were 30% off so there really wasn't a better time.

I chose the 'refreshing' formula as it has grapefruit seed oil and i absolutely love the smell and taste of grapefruits.

I know I'm not the most environmentally aware consumer but it is nice to know that the product is 100% natural and not tested on animals.

OPI's Lights of Emerald City
From the Oz Great and Powerful Collection this beautiful, sparkly white goodness caught my eye. Although I've never seen snow, this is what I imagine it to be like.

This look is created with a clear polish and pieces of white and gold pieces of glitter. It's so pretty :)

Photoready 3D Volume Mascara
WHAT A BARGAIN! With a price like that how could anyone resist? I'm a sucker for trying new mascara because there's so many different types and I just want to try every last one.

It promises to give you 'glamourous, big volume lashes from every angle' so we'll see how that goes.
Cooling Hand Cream Gel
I actually tried this on in myer and I absolutely fell in love with it. I know this is a little embarrassing to admit on the internet but sometimes my hands get really hot and i tend to sweat. EWWWWW. I really liked it as it did have a cooling effect without feeling greasy and it smells amazing.

The website described it a little better:

'Unique gel turns to a matte, powdery finish, reducing perspiration and swelling sensations. Enriched with organic verbena extract and tapioca powder to soothe and absorb, leaving hands feeling dry and cooled. The aroma of verbena, orange, geranium and lemon tree appeals to men and women.'

If that doesn't sound amazing, then what does?

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Review

Every beauty guru has them and if you love MAC paint pots, these are for you!

These highly pigmented cream eyeshadows have a slightly thicker consistency to that of a paint pot but are a great inexpensive alternative. You can use them as an eyeshadow base to make your powder eyeshadow more intense, by themselves just as an eyeshadow and sometimes i use them as a gel liner for a little something different.

The Maybelline Colour Tattoos are perfect for make up beginners as they are easy to use and you can apply them with your fingers rather than having to spend more money on makeup brushes.

At the moment my favourite shade is Tough as Taupe(the second swatch), this is the only one that i have that is matte and i use it almost everyday as a subtle eyeshadow colour for school. The other colours i have, have a strong shimmer and are perfect for a night out. If you have any type of eyeliner brush or a really flat eyeshadow brush they also look great as gel liners.

With these cream eyeshadows, it is really important that you seal the lids on really tight as I found two of mine had dried up a little. If that happens, there is hope! I sprayed my Mac Fix+ into the pot and mixed the shadow and fix together and it restored the product to it's original creamy self. Also keep in mind that if you apply too much product that it will crease. Other than these two problems I've found, I absolutely love them and I strongly recommend them to everyone.

How to take care of long hair

How I do it:

Washing:

I, personally, wash my hair about once every two or three days. At the moment I'm using the Organix Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom and Ginger shampoo and conditioner.
With the shampoo, it says that you should apply it, lather and rinse. I, personally leave it in for about a minute after lathering to hold some of the scent into my hair.
With the conditioner, it says to apply and leave for 3-5 minutes and again I leave it in for a little while longer.
After using my shampoo and conditioner, about once or twice a week I follow it with a hair mask. At the moment I'm using the Schwarzkoph Ultimate Repair Anti-Damage Mask for damaged, dry hair. For me it's important to use the damaged formula as I use a lot of heat when styling my hair and it could lead to a lot of split ends.
I apply from about mid-way to the ends of my hair after shampooing and conditioning and i leave it in for about 10 minutes despite the instructions only saying to leave it in for one minute. I feel like if you only leave it in for a minute, your hair doesn't seem as silky as it could be.
After rinsing out the product and getting out of the shower i wrap my hair up in a towel for about 10 minutes so it can dry a little bit. After that, using a wide tooth comb, I detangle any knots.

While damp:

If I'm going to a party or going out to dinner and I feel i need a little volume I use the Schwarzkopf Ultimate Keratin Mousse.
This is the first mousse that I've tried and I chose it because it contains Keratin which is really good for your hair as it protects it from heat and pollution. It is particularly good if you have frizzy hair as it can reduce frizz.
While my hair is still damp I take some mousse into my hands and rub the product together in my hands and then i flip my head over, only applying the product to the roots. For ultimate volume I suggest blow drying your hair upside down.
Applying oil to the tips of hair can prevent split ends. I'm using Joico K-PAK Colour Therapy restorative styling oil containing Argan Oil. Argan oil assists in hydrating the hair and it contains natural antioxidants that repair damage in the cellular membrane. Argan oil and dry ends, like I have, are a match made in heaven.
I take about a 20 cent coin amount and rub it together in my hands and apply it to the ends. Any left-over product can be run through the rest of the hair. You can also apply the oil to dry hair but I feel it soaks in better with damp hair.

If oily:

I get really oily roots so if I haven't had time to wash my hair and it's looking a little oily i use some dry shampoo. Currently I'm using Bastiste Dry Shampoo in the floral and flirty blush scent.
I usually style my hair and then i spray it on the bits that look oily and then rub it it. Make sure to rub it through thoroughly or it can make your hair look white/grey.

I'm not a professional when it comes to hair but this is how i look after my hair. It is also helpful to have regular haircuts to promote growth and generally keep your hair healthy so please keep that in mind, I know a lot of people don't like to get hair cuts because they want it to be long, but without regular haircuts it won't grow as fast and it could appear to be 'dead'.
